What Photos and Measurements to Send for a Bathroom Quote

A phone camera and a measuring tape are all you need. Which photos and rough measurements to send on WhatsApp, and what happens after.

What Photos and Measurements to Send for a Bathroom Quote

The first step towards a renovated bathroom is usually a WhatsApp message. What you send at this stage shapes how useful the conversation is. With a few clear photos and some rough measurements, we can understand the room, ask better questions and come to the site visit prepared, rather than starting from zero.

You do not need special tools or any technical knowledge. A phone camera and a measuring tape are enough. Here is what helps most.

The photos worth taking

Take photos in good light, with the bathroom door open and the lights on. Landscape photos usually show more of a small room. Try to get these shots:

1. The whole room from the doorway

Stand at the door and take one wide photo, then crouch slightly and take another. This shows the layout: where the toilet, basin and shower sit in relation to each other.

2. Each wall, straight on

Photograph every wall separately, including the one with the door. These photos show the tiles, any window, the position of fittings and how much clear wall space there is for a vanity or shelves.

3. The floor and the floor trap

A photo looking down at the floor shows the tiles, the drain position and whether there is a step or kerb between the wet and dry areas.

4. The shower or bathtub area

If you are thinking about a bathtub to shower conversion or a new shower screen, take a close photo of this area from a couple of angles.

5. Any problem spots, up close

Cracked or hollow tiles, stained grout, rust around fittings, damp patches on the wall, or stains on the ceiling of the room below. These close-ups are the most useful photos you can send, because they point to what may be happening behind the surface.

6. The ceiling and ventilation

One photo upwards shows the ceiling condition, the light fitting and any exhaust fan or vent.

Rough measurements that help

Exact measurements are taken at the site visit, so there is no need for precision now. Approximate figures to the nearest few centimetres are plenty:

  • Floor length and width. Measure wall to wall at floor level.
  • Ceiling height. From floor to ceiling, roughly.
  • Shower or bathtub area. Length and width of the wet zone, or the length of the bathtub.
  • Vanity wall. The width available where you would like the basin and cabinet.
  • Door width. Useful for planning how materials and fittings come in and out.

A simple sketch with the numbers written on it works well. You can also photograph the tape measure laid along the floor.

Tell us about the home and your plans

A few lines of context make the photos far more useful:

  • the type of home: terrace house, apartment, condominium or another kind of property
  • the town or area, so site-visit availability can be confirmed
  • whether this is the only bathroom in the home
  • what you want to change, and any problems you have noticed
  • whether you plan to supply your own tiles or materials
  • a budget range, if you have one in mind

If you are unsure what level of work you need, look through our packages and services first and mention the ones that sound closest.

What happens after you send them

1. A conversation on WhatsApp

We look at your photos, ask any follow-up questions and give you a sense of which service or package fits. Any prices at this stage are indicative only; for example, full bathroom renovation starts from RM5,000 per project and bathroom tiling from RM25 per sq ft.

2. A site visit to measure

Photos cannot show everything. The site visit is where exact measurements are taken and the condition of walls, floors and pipes is checked.

3. A written, itemised quotation

You receive a written quotation that lists the work and materials item by item. It is no-obligation, so you can take time to review it.

4. Choosing tiles, fixtures and finishes

Once you are happy with the scope, you choose the materials and finishes for the room.

5. Renovation

Work starts after the quotation is accepted and the agreed deposit is paid. If hidden issues appear once surfaces are opened, they are photographed and priced for your approval before work continues.

Enquiries from anywhere in Malaysia

Whether you are in Kuala Lumpur, George Town or Kota Kinabalu, you can send your photos the same way. Site-visit availability for your town is confirmed on WhatsApp, and for Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak project schedules are confirmed per location.
